I am a sad millennial, except I am in a loving relationship but still not married. Therefore buying a house and getting on the housing ladder is very hard to do while also renting. We have managed to save very little and lived a decent life in our first home together, but we want our own home that we can build a family in.
While the pandemic gripped Britain and its lockdown was at the most strictest, I took up a lot more sewing. I was sewing when we moved in originally 2 years ago but I had also started college and became a scout leader and sewing took a back burner. The lockdown in March/April reignited my love for creating shit with fabric, so my "work from home" money and "rent is delayed" money sought some fabric off the Internet where I created a considerable stash of top quality (IMHO) fabrics that can be turned into all the things.
Moving back to my mums with my boyfriend will undoubtedly be very hard but I have my sewing machines and fabric and making things is how I will stave off the boredom of our goal to save a collective £16k in 10 months.
So if you get happiness from making and reading about people making clothes, while also being very stingy and working towards saving money, this is the blog for you.
I promise to give you, monthly updates of if we have met or surpassed our savings target of £1600 per month. And monthly updates on what I have been making on my sewing machine with all the pretty fabrics I have.
I promise to show you the cheap shit I have been doing to not spend money, frugality and fashion and make do and mend.
I might also take you on the journey of our house buying when we get to that stage because it's sure as shit happening 10 months from this post.
